A New Chapter: Galerie36 Opens in Dakar

Dear Friends,

Today, I’m writing to share that Galerie36 is officially open in Dakar.

This space is more than an art gallery—it is a physical manifestation of the work we’ve been building together over the past six years through ElevenThirtySix and personally as I’ve shared my time between Dakar, Senegal and New York City. Galerie36 brings to life the passions and purpose that have long fueled our mission at E36: art and culture, social transformation, and a commitment to a prosperous future for Africa, its Diaspora and the world.

Inspired by the intellectual salons of the Nardal sisters in 20th-century Paris—whose living room served as a meeting place for artists, thinkers, and revolutionaries of Pan-African thought—Galerie36 is imagined as a place where ideas are exchanged as freely as art is experienced. A space for beauty and brilliance. A space where culture becomes connection.

Through exhibitions, gatherings, and collaborations with artists and artisans from across the African continent and its Diaspora, we are extending our commitment to cultural exchange and conscious creativity within an abundant and growing global community.

ElevenThirtySix continues to thrive—advising institutions, cultural leaders, and visionaries committed to a more creative and equitable present and future. Together, we’re committed to nurturing a creative ecosystem rooted in people and perspectives that are often overlooked but that remain profoundly powerful.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We hope you’ll stay close as Galerie36 takes flight.

With appreciation,

Ayofemi
